Super spray

Super spray

In my first scene as R2D2 approaches the Naboo fighter he travels across sand, however there was nothing going on, so it was a bit boring, and slightly unrealistic, I thought about when walking across sand, it normally flicks up slightly so I wanted to create the same effect for R2D2 as it travelled along the sand, to do this I used the super spray technique which was very similar to the technique I learnt for creating fire. I clicked the create tab, and selected ‘particle systems’ in the drop down menu, I then clicked on super spray and drew it on my scene.

I positioned the spray so that when it was played the particle would come diagonally from the feet of R2D2, I then changed the settings of the spray so that the size was the right proportion, and how it looked, I used the ‘special’ particle type which meant that the particles which came from the spray were a random start like shape, due to making them small, when it was played it looked pretty good and very much like sand coming from the floor, so I was very happy with the outcome, the final finishing touch I did was apply the same material to the super spray as I did to the floor, this meant that it matched the floor, and made it look even more realistic as if it was coming from the sand.
